Some Backstory

This page is still a work in progress. -Just like ME!

January 15th is when I consider the official start of my weight loss and getting healthier journey. That is when I stepped on the scale and registered 328 lbs. This was 2 days after having my diabetes medication raised because my A1c was 7.4. This shows an average blood glucose of 166.  Definitely out of pre-diabetes and a firm diagnosis of diabetes. Back in September my weight at my doctor was 339 so I had lost 11 pounds in 3 months, but I was not being serious about it. I had made some small changes, like not eating fast food but I was not tracking my food or exercise. After my January appt I decided that before I turned 40 I would be healthier. I started to run the numbers and plan out my journey. Most experts state 1-2 lbs a week is an acceptable weight loss goal. I figured in 41 weeks I could get down to 250 pounds. That works out to 78 pounds at an average of 1.9 pounds a week.

Once the numbers were computed I got a notebook and got serious about my food diary. For the month of January it was mostly about the eating and lowering my calorie count. When February started I joined the Y and added working out to my plan.

If you would like to read more about my history my first post does go into some detail.
